We are finishing up our fitness unit and ready to get started in the fall with our next upcoming units. Please make sure you enjoy the beautiful fall weather by going outside everyday and exercise with a run or walk as a family. Your children can show you the exercises and muscles they worked on the past couple of weeks. Please check out the PE website for upcoming information on our next units of study.

Welcome to the new school year! I have lots of fun games and activities planned!
As we wind down to the end of the year, don't forget the fun run is May 4th and Field Day is May 10th. If you would like to volunteer for Field Day, please email Coach Cal and [email protected] Make sure students have proper attire and sneakers for both days.
As we wrap out for the holidays, our students had a great time learning about winter activities and sports. K-3 got to learn and work with each other in the sport of bowling, while 4th and 5th graders had the opportunity to do hockey. Looking ahead, in the month of February, we have our big annual fundraiser with Jump Rope for Heart. Be on the look out for more information to come.
As fall is upon us, make sure you get outside and enjoy the weather and exercise every week as a family. Have a family catch outside or hit the old tennis ball around with your family. Students in K-3 will be working on their throwing and catching skills for the next couple of weeks, while 4th and 5th graders will learn the game of tennis.
This month the students are working on staying fit! Here we are practicing our circuits. Way to go hawks!
As the weather changes and September is upon us, we will be doing a Fitness unit for the month of September. Students will be exercising in stations and rotations, learning all of the major muscles in their body. Upper grades will be learning key fitness terms and and all of the parts of the heart and what makes it tic. Make sure this month you go to the park with your family at night and exercise and enjoy the beautiful weather. Healthy mind, healthy body = healthy life.
Curriculum-
Students will get to participate and learn various activities, sports, and games throughout the year. Kindergarten and First Grade will focus more on basic movements and awareness of space. Second and Third Grades will focus more on basic skills of the activity and sport. Fourth and Fifth graders will focus on teamwork and gameplay of activities and sports. Grading Our grade structure is as follows. Each student adds up to 100 points. 97 to 100 is A+ 94 to 96 is A and 90 to 93 is A-. B’s C’s and D’s follow the same rubric. Below is how points are broken up. We have a variety of tests from, written, group, skills, and teacher observation. Grading points are lost if a student loses 3 rubber bands or has to bring home a behavior slip. Participation: 60 points Tests: 30 points Behavior: 10 points Welcome Back Hawks!! As we get our new year started, I wanted to remind everyone that our big unit for P.E. in the month of September is our Fitness Unit. I challenge each family to set aside at least 20 minutes a day and do some fun family activities where you can exercise. Please ask your children about exercises and muscles, as they will learn how to move and work out each muscle in the body. If you have any questions at all about the P.E. program, please email Coach Cal at [email protected]. Have a wonderful month and get active!!!!!!!!!!!!
